The alumina-copper oxide powder mixture thus formed was heated at 400 °C for 1 h in hydrogen atmosphere using a tubular furnace. The powder sample was placed in an alumina boat and then kept in a horizontally placed alumina tube of the furnace which was heated by silicon carbide heating elements.
For the initial growth studies, the samples were transferred to a tube furnace for graphene growth using a technique optimized for Cu foils.
